The first Athens Academy brought together teachers, trainers and youth workers from eleven countries for five full days on social inclusion in education. The aim was simple: move inclusion out of policy documents and into the lesson plans participants will teach next week.
Five days, one theme
Each day built on the last — from a shared vocabulary around diversity on day one, to recognising and responding to sensitive situations, to designing a protective learning environment and, finally, a personal action plan for each participant’s own organisation.
- 25 hours of workshops, expert input and case-based discussion
- Site visits to AKMI campuses and a partner school in central Athens
- A cultural programme around the Acropolis, Plaka and the Ancient Agora
- Certificates of Attendance and Europass Mobility documents on request
We came for the methods and left with a network. Three of us are already planning a joint project for next year.

What happens next
Participants share their action plans with their own teams in the coming months, and we will follow up with each organisation on how the ideas land in practice. The next Athens Academy is planned for October 2027 — places are limited to 25.
