Hosting VET interns in hospitality: what sending partners told us

A look back at this summer’s hospitality and culinary placements in Athens — what worked, what we changed, and what coordinators say makes the difference.

Hospitality and culinary placements remain the most requested fields for learner mobilities. This summer we hosted groups from VET schools in four countries, with learners placed in hotels, restaurants and pastry kitchens across Athens.

What made the difference

  • Matching placements to the Learning Agreement before arrival, not after
  • A named tutor who visits each workplace during the first week
  • A mid-term check-in with learners and company mentors
  • Timesheets and evaluations ready for the final report on the last day

Documentation arrived on time and a problem mid-mobility was handled before we even had to ask.
